Hello lovely readers! Happy New Year to you all!
I have a couple of posts set up for you all to read but I pushed them back because I received an amazing comment early this year that I wanted to share. The lovely Kim over at Craft-Create-Connect has nominated my blog for A Sunshine Award. It is so great to hear that the readers are enjoying what they are seeing and that they care so much to let me know. This news brightened my day and gave me new motivation to continue to work and a create here on my blog for all of you wonderful people.
So to follow Kim’s lead I will answer the 11 questions that she asked her nominees and then follow those answers with 11 facts about myself. Continue reading

Well we have come down to the second last post of the year. It’s been a great year for sure. I have been able to post some of my own work, the events I have been involved with, and some work of friends of mine.
This week, as I prepare plans for the new year, I am handing the post over to you. I am looking for some feedback. What did you like reading? What you have liked to see more of? Where would you like to see the blog go in 2014?
Please leave a comment below, on my Facebook page, or on Twitter!
Hello again everyone!
As we approach the holiday season everything has been really busy here. I haven’t been able to do a lot of work in my sketchbook lately. Any work that I have been doing has been for secret holiday projects that I won’t be able to share with you until the new year.
In the meantime I received a new message from my good friend Araz the other day. He has some new photos up on his site. Araz has taken some amazing wildlife photos in his travels, they are beautiful! Here are a couple of examples: Continue reading
The Christmas season is upon us now and so everything is getting a little busy and hectic.I haven’t been able to work on a lot of personal projects lately because I am working on Christmas gifts and some projects I can’t show you all just yet. This sketch is a preliminary sketch for a painting that I want to finish in the new year. The inspiration for this sketch/painting came from Katy Perry’s “Roar”. I will make sure that I get the work in progress and final piece up here as soon as I get them finished.
Now back to sketching while I have a few minutes, hopefully I will have a bit more work up for you lovely readers to see before the end of the year.
Happy Holiday preparations!!!
It’s that time of year again! Yup… time for the One of a Kind Christmas Show & Sale in Toronto. The show opened last weekend and runs through Sunday. If you are looking for something unique for a Christmas gift, decoration, or delicious appetizer then this is the show that you need to see. There are artisans from all over that come to this show to display their art.
There is something for everyone here. You’ll find furniture, clothing, jewelry, food, fine art, and other decor. I have been almost every year for the past 7 or 8 years and there is always something new. You do find your favourites too. Continue reading
This week I wanted to share with you some of my favourite art reading. I get most of my inspiration and art information from a lot of different places. I grab the information from the news, Twitter, Facebook, and magazines. Two of those magazines are what I want to share with you today. Continue reading
Lately I have been trying to explore mixed media in my sketchbook and other work. When all of the back to school sales were on I would visit the local art stores to see what kind of new supplies I could find. On one of these trips I found my new favourite art supply. The acrylic paint marker! I have tried the Sharpie and Liquitex versions and they are both great. My favourite part is the portability of the markers, it’s easy to get some great colour on a page when I am not at home. I can also put a lot of colour on a page in my sketchbook without it bleeding through. I have been holding back, trying not to buy all of the colours of all the kinds. Definitely give these a try, they are a lot of fun.
I have not been paid or asked to promote these products by either Sharpie or Liquitex. I just want to promote this cool new addition to my tool kit.
Since I left school and got a new place of my own I have been looking for a way to store and organize my many art supplies. I looked at book shelves, I looked at dressers, I looked at tool chests. All of these provided organization for some of my supplies but not all of them. Then one day I walked into Michaels and they had their Recollections storage boxes on sale. They are PERFECT!!! BOO!!! Hello all my lovely readers! This post is full of awesome things! This is my 100th post and I am so glad that you are all here to share it with me.
First off, Happy Hallowe’en everyone! I hope that you are all having a sugar filled and crazy costumed kind of day. I am celebrating Hallowe’en here on my blog by sharing with you one of my favourite parts about the season… PUMPKIN CARVING!!! I look forward to this every fall. My second pumpkin (see the first one here) almost didn’t happen this year though, I have spent the past two days driving around town looking for a pumpkin. Pumpkins are rare here in Southern Ontario this time of year apparently. Thanks so much to the little farm in town that put up their signs and pointed me in the right direction.
Last year I did Bane from The Dark Knight Rises, so I thought, why not try a bad guy again this year. It took me a minute to think of someone iconic but he was staring me right in the face. OF COURSE!!! Who is bigger in 2013 than Mr. White himself? Here he is, the one and only… Heisenberg.
I also wanted to try something new, a new way to share my work with everyone, and I thought what better time than pumpkin carving on my 100th post?!?! I wanted to try a time lapse video, I really like how they look and I figured pumpkin carving was a good place to start. Below is the video I created. Part way through you will start watching Boardwalk Empire with me but the process is still there :D.
Thanks again to all my readers, it took me a while to get to this post but I couldn’t have gotten here without you. Thanks so much and here’s to 100 more 🙂 Happy Hallowe’en!!!
A Dark Knight Hallowe’en!
